FISH diagnostics in plasma cell myeloma: recommendations and own experience

چکیده
Plasma cell myeloma (PCM) is disease with heterogeneous clinical outcomes. It increasingly evident that the genetic features of tumor cells largely dictate heterogeneity PCM. Primary chromosomal alterations in can be divided into hyperdiploid and non-hyperdiploid subtypes. Secondary changes occur during progression disease. Cytogenetic abnormalities are important prognostic markers PCM some them were incorporated current staging system The presence t(4;14), t(14;16), t(14;20), gain 1q or TP53 deletion considered to high-risk myeloma. Detection these performed by interphase fluorescence situ hybridization (FISH) after separation identification plasma cells. proper FISH examination has meet further requirements regarding aspirating timing samples, probe selection their cut-off levels, criteria accurate analysis reporting. Based on literature, we here present technical recommendations Furthermore, share our own experience diagnostics acquired over 12 years. In this period, have nearly 2,050 tests 603 patients used two different methods FISH: immunolabeled cells, target BioView system.

Current status and updated recommendations for diagnosis and treatment of plasma cell myeloma in Switzerland.
The availability of drugs such as thalidomide, bortezomib and lenalidomide changed the landscape in myeloma treatment and has extended the median survival up to 10 years with a substantial improvement in quality of life. This development prompted a Swiss expert panel to re-evaluate the current status and formulate updated clinical recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of plasma cell m...

Myeloma is the most common neoplasm of bone. The majority is diagnosed with a bone marrow aspirate, rather than a bone biopsy. Most patients have disseminated disease, associated with a poor prognosis. Some have solitary myeloma with a more favourable clinical course but eventually, most become multifocal. A small percentage of patients have sclerotic bone lesions, which may be associated with p...
متن کاملOrbital plasma cell myeloma.
Orbital plasma cell myeloma is a rare condition. In a review of 222 intraorbital tumours, Forrest (1949) found only one case, and Offret (I951) reported two cases in a series of 676 orbital tumours. Clarke (I 953) emphasized the differentiation between the plasma cell myeloma of myelomatosis and the benign plasma cell tumour produced by chronic inflammation. The present report concerns a case p...

abstract: plasma cellmyeloma constitutes about 10% of all hematologicmalignancies. metastatic cutaneous lesions without underlying bony involvement are rare and associated with advanced disease, poor prognosis and high tumor burden. igg is the most common subtype and igd is believed to have a more aggressive course.######

Session 1 of the 2009 Workshop of the Society for Hematopathology/European Association of Haematopathology, Cleveland, OH, focused on plasma cell neoplasms. This report summarizes the salient diagnostic, clinical, and genetic features of plasma cell myeloma (PCM) and related neoplasms. Based on the cases submitted to the workshop, we highlight common diagnostic issues and unusual manifestations...
